Caring For Your Blinds

Blinds are as versatile as life itself, there are wooden blinds, plastic blinds, aluminium blinds, bamboo blinds, and fabric blinds each having its own pro’s and con’s. People often think that the most difficult aspects about blinds are installing them! This is not true installing blinds is as easy as pie the difficult part comes to maintaining blinds especially vertical blinds.

Vertical blinds are one of the most beautiful and versatile of all blinds but due to the fact that it is mainly made up of polyester material it can also be one of the most difficult to maintain. More often than not the blinds don’t receive a second though after installation and this is the worst mistake people can make. Usually the mistake is only realised once the blinds become dirty, keep in mind that dust and UV light is the worst enemy of blinds and if left unchecked can cause an unsightly mess.

Vertical blinds require constant care to keep them in prime condition if you take care of your blinds from the get go you will never need to wash them, caring for your vertical blinds is quite easy and can be done once a week and should take no longer than an hour. Always vacuum your blinds thoroughly using the small brush attachment, once you are satisfied that you have removed all the dust, wipe down with a soft cloth and mild cleaning solution.
Avoid using strong chemicals and soaps as these will not only damage your blinds, excessive soap will seep into the material causing a sticky solution that attracts dirt.
